Video List – PE Study Videos

I spent countless hours on Youtube while studying. The wealth of free videos explaining PE concepts is overwhelming. Below is a video list of every single Youtube channel or PE exam study video that I watched while preparing for the PE exam.

Moving Electrons (Channel):

This guy is off-the-hook. His videos were incredibly helpful for me. I watched all of them, with the exception of his series on ‘inductance’ – which I only got part way through. I found him originally while trying to learn about ”Per Unit” quantities, and his series on that is incredible.

Complex Imaginary (Channel):

These videos were extremely helpful. They are very simplified explanations and focus on ‘passing’ not ‘learning’ – which I appreciated. I watched every single one of their videos.

Electrical PE Review (Channel): –

Edit; the note below is from back in 2017 when I studied. This channel has been hard at work since then and continues to develop current content. This is key – they are not publishing a book and then sitting on it for a few years before updating. The content is digital, Zach is active on the forums, and responsive to comments and feedback. This is a huge value. Watch these videos and check out the other free content on their website! I have no experience with their paid content, so I can’t speak to it personally, but I have seen great feedback.

Original post; His videos were useful and current. I watched the majority of his videos, but found myself skipping some because the examples got a little repetitive. I think repetition is useful though if you are early in your studying. I found this channel a little later in the game.

Timothy Schulz (Channel):

I found this guy when I went looking for someone to explain ‘Thevenin Equivalent’ to me. I ended up watching some of his stuff of the ‘basics’ like Thevenin, Kirchhoff’s laws, node voltage, etc. He doesn’t have a focus on the PE Exam at all, so there aren’t ‘PE style example’ but there are useful explanations of basic concepts in Electrical Engineering.

Daniel Lang (Channel):

This guy saved my butt when it came to ‘Active Power Transfer’ – this was one of those topics that was totally stumping me. Watch his entire series. Make heavy use of the ‘pause’ button.

Justin Kauwale (Channel):

This is the same guy that wrote one of the references I used so heavily. His videos are generally examples of things that are found in his book.

Individual Videos:

3-Phase Fault Example:

This is a video that walked through one of the NCEES exam problems from the April 2017 exam. I did not like this guy’s method (I preferred Justin’s method for these problems) but it was useful to watch this video to understand the NCEES and PPi solutions to similar problems, as they generally used this method (I think).

What is an operational Amplifier: –

The ‘devices’ section of the exam was definitely a struggle for me. I found this video useful. It is not a specific PE exam study video, but it helped me understand that exam section.
