Ravi walking on the road at sunrise

Day 15 – San Anton to Bodilla del Camino

Candlelight Coffee and a Steep, Hot Climb

This morning was glorious. We were not to wake up until 7am (strict instructions from Monia). She had moka pot coffee prepared, and a breakfast spread by candle light! It was such a relaxing morning. It meant we got a late start, but that really did not matter at all.

The walking was pretty consistent today. Aside from a very, very steep climb and descent over a mesa, it was flat, strait, Maseta walking.

I walked with Ravi today. We chatted the whole way. We stopped for a coffee and lunch in Itero de la Vega. From there we had 8km to go. It was not far, but it was getting hot. There was a breeze that saved us.

We arrived in Bodilla del Camino and are staying at ‘En El Camino’. There is a pool, but I’m not planning any swimming.

There is lots of grass.

I’m enjoying a cafe con leche (decaffeinated!). I even managed to ask for an ‘iced’ version!

I spent a good chunk of time reviewing the next few days of walking. I think I may try to tackle some bigger distance days across the rest of the Maseta. We shall see if I want to challenge myself physically.

I enjoyed the pilgrim’s dinner, and then another phone call home before bed. =)
